Expertise
Direnç Bada is a dual-qualified lawyer admitted as an attorney in Türkiye and a solicitor in England and Wales.
He has been with the firm since 2014 and is a partner whose practice focuses on IP enforcement and anti-counterfeiting, with a strong and recognised emphasis on the pharmaceutical, technology and fashion industries.
He advises and represents major multinational clients in large-scale civil litigation and criminal enforcement matters in Türkiye, and provides strategic support in connection with related proceedings in the United States and England. His practice encompasses complex infringement and unfair competition cases primarily involving counterfeit, falsified and diverted products, illegal distribution channels and other regulatory-linked violations, frequently raising public health considerations. He has significant experience advising originator pharmaceutical and health technology companies on enforcement strategies against unlawfully marketed medicinal products, including matters involving parallel trade, online sales, diversion risk and supply-chain compliance.
He is particularly noted for aligning clients’ commercial and enforcement objectives with public authorities’ priorities in order to design effective, deterrent enforcement actions. In this capacity, he regularly leads matters requiring close coordination with enforcement agencies, prosecutors and administrative bodies, and is frequently instructed on high-volume, multi-party enforcement strategies across Türkiye.
In addition, Direnç has represented clients in international commercial disputes, including arbitration proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC). He also advises multinational clients operating in regulated industries on data governance matters, including international data transfers and data localisation requirements, and has held the Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E) certification since 2019.
